Wednesday night, I decided to do something I’ve only done a few times before: go to Walt Disney World after work. The reason I was willing to make such a long drive after work was because I wanted to meet two long-time twitter friends: @Leeshka (Alicia) and @Gyophry (Geoffrey). They were in town all the way from New Mexico (just north of regular Mexico), and I couldn’t miss the chance to hang with some super fun people who’d never been to Hollywood Studios before.
Alicia and Geoffrey had been at MGM with their daughter all day and got most of the rides and attractions out of the way. We walked Hollywood Boulevard together, I took them to get their first peanut butter & jelly shakes at Tune-In Lounge, we then rode the movies before having dinner at the Sci-Fi Dine-In.
The following photo gallery gives you a taste of the evening. All photos were taken with a Canon T3i and processed in iPhoto. The lenses were my 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 and my trusty 28mm f/1.8.
I hope you enjoy!
Arrived right as a storm left.
The Dark Room.
Mickey’s of Hollywood.
Five and Dime
Inside the custom hat shop the name of which escapes me at this time.
I just love the ceiling and the posters.
Tall ceiling is tall.
New font for #StarWarsWeekends – Recognize the name?
Bolt! Alicia brought me this as part of a months-long trade.
Heading toward Echo Lake.
Skyline over Hollywood and Vine.
Hopped into the Tune-In Lounge because Geoffrey and Alicia had never had PB&J shakes! Right?!
David wasn’t working. :(
I remember you… before the hat incident.
A quick ride through some classics…
The distortion on the 10-22mm lens cracks me up.
A wild Geoffrey appears!
Seriously, I don’t hate the hat. I just really loved this theater when you could see it.
In case you were wondering, #StarWarsWeekends sets are left up (at least some are) during the week.
Inside Sci-Fi Dine-In.
Over at the Writer’s Stop, people signed the time cards…
…I don’t know if this behavior is encouraged or just tolerated.
Turn the engine off! Carbon monoxide is serious.
Goodnight! Thanks for the awesome reuben.
Time to walk out… I love this park at night, and you’re about to see why.
The hat, exaggerated.
Fountain at Hollywood and Sunset.
Tried to take an old picture. :)
Tall, tall palm trees.
