I’ve had a busy summer, so I do apologize for the lack of photo updates lately. I’m back from my Disney Cruise, and it went well… those photos will be along over the next few months. Today, I want to share with you one of the best weekends I have ever, ever had on property at Walt Disney World.
I spent the final two weeks of my summer break in New Jersey with my girlfriend, Melissa. She is the proprietor of the world-famous Mouse on the Mind, all-around amazing woman, fellow blogger, and huge Disney fan. We, being huge Disney fans, decided to start our road trip to Florida a bit early so we could spend time at Walt Disney World together before she had to fly back home. As explained in her partner write-up to this post, we could only find a room at Saratoga Springs using her DVC points. Neither of us had stayed there before, so we gave it a shot… We arrived on Saturday afternoon, had dinner at Turf Club (another first), and then spent Sunday at Magic Kingdom. Pictures from my favorite day on property are below.
All pictures were taken with the Canon EOS-M, using a 22mm f/2 lens, and processed in Aperture.
Blurry toilet in accessible studio
Towels hung with care
The standard Disney accessible shower…
Small kitchen area
Coffeemaker, microwave, sink, fridge
Strange closet oddly placed in a terribly inaccessible place in this accessible room
For watching Stacey tell you the must-dos
I love the sofa area, even though I didn’t think I’d be too hot on the details of this resort
Horse tack details in curtain
Another shot of the strangely-placed closet
Look who’s on the bed spread!
Outside our room door
Great view of Downtown Disney from Saratoga Springs
Approaching the Turf Club – it’s very hidden above the golf shop.
Just up the stairs…
The Turf Club
There’s a beautiful community room just outside the Turf Club
In this room, I found an old favorite from the Main Street Penny Arcade – my favorite place as a kid.
Inside the Turf Club – it’s dark, heavy, classy… very nice mood.
Melissa had lamb. It was delicious!
Jessika opted for chicken over macaroni and cheese
We closed the place
There’s a wonderful patio outside of Turf Club
From this patio, you can see Downtown Disney fairly well
We headed to Magic Kingdom early
New Halloween merchandise
Purple is everywhere in the late summer at Magic Kingdom
A new pole has been added to help with parade traffic control
Mine Train is underway
Prince Adam’s guests are sheltered from the punishing August sun
I still think this is some sort of hidden-Mickey-esque face
Unfortunately, I’ve only been in this queue area once, the ceiling frescos show scenes from The Little Mermaid
Off to meet Ariel! Hadn’t done this before…
She was super friendly and talkative. All sorts of questions for us land folk.
I love this area
Mickey Check Meals
Some Haunted Mansion work… probably for FastPass+
Step right up!
Never realized it’s a scary face…
A FastPass+ kiosk in the Haunted Mansion line
Somebody’s watching me
Literally the only photo from Peter Pan’s Flight that turned out at all
Next to Sir Mickey’s
Ducks and a sea serpent
Reflection of magic
Time for lunch!

Heading for drinks on our way out – Melissa had yet to go to the Main Street Starbakery.

Last shot of purple before we headed out for the day, to the airport and tears…
