The Ride that Shouldn’t Exist: Splash Mountain

Everybody’s got a laughin’ place… and this is one that millions share: Splash Mountain at Walt Disney World. Now, when I say this ride shouldn’t exist, I mean that Disney has decided to disavow all knowledge of the movie from which it pulls these characters and locations: Song of the South. While I saw Song of the South on TV often as a kid, you’ll have to dig up your own copy these days. During the incredibly slow times that Walt Disney World suffered in the early-to-mid-90s, I remember riding Splash Mountain over and over and over in a row with my brother. Now it has transformed into a must-ride E-ticket, for which FastPass+ is often unavailable. It’s worth the ride, either way!
